Junior Witter takes on Timothy"Desert Storm"Bradley in Defence of his WBC World Title at the Nottingham Ice Arena 10th May.It will be the third defence of his title since demolishing Vivian Harris in 7 rounds last September. Bradley who gets his chance by default after Jose Luis Castillo failed to make the weight for their final eliminator in March.
Not much is known about Bradley apart from having 21 contests winning them all with 11 by KO. A pro for four years he seems to have been brought along quietly and whether Jose Luis Castillo couldn't make the weight or just didn't feel up to the task remains to be seen.
"It would have been great to have seen him in action to see exactly what he has, watching him against Castillo would have been a good measuring tool unfortunately the fight didn't happen. But I won't be underestimating him,he is young and ambitious and that is always a dangerous combination," said Junior.
In the absence of any other meaningful fight it is understandable that Junior has opted to get his Mandatory out of the way early.
"Ricky is still running scared and has Mallinaggi tied up fir the next fight I wouldn't be surprised if he got Kotelnik on board also .After fighting the best in the World (Mayweather) I would expect him to actually fight somebody half decent and Lazcano isn't that. Why does he need a confidence booster ? he's had 43 of those before he fought Mayweather," laughed Junior.
"I never look past the next fight, once I get Bradley out of the way in style I will be pushing Mick Hennessy to get me the biggest fights he can .Hopefully this new deal with ITV will open up the doors and create more opportunities."
